Traditional Italian Cooking Workshops

Italian Workshops

I regularly organise workshops which gives students (and non-students) opportunities to explore aspects of the Italia language and culture, or simply to do extra practise, and sometimes to meet other language lovers!

Prices, venues and dates change accordingly, keep an eye out on my Blog and social media for updates on the next Italian Workshop.

Why not have a look at some previous Workshops i have held.

  • "Just a short note to thank you for all the activities yesterday which were highly enjoyable all round. Thank you also for the wonderful home baking!" (Sean)
  • "Thank you very much for Saturday. It was great fun. I was wondering if you could send me the recipe for the soft, pale egg white and almond treats you provided. They were delicious! Merry Christmas." (Sue)
Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo" (Robert).

Italian Pronunciation Workshop

Following the success of the first workshop, I am organising a follow-up session on Saturday the 24th June 2017.

Many participants felt that a continuation meeting would give them the opportunity to strengthen what they have learned on the first session, and work on the intonation and stress we didn’t get the chance to practise. Therefore, we will do more activities on the syllables and double consonants sound and practise the intonation and stress, of words, sentences and verbs through listening, speaking, writing activities and games.

The workshop will run from 10:00-12:30 at the village Hall in Shustoke in Church Road, Shustoke, Birmingham, B46 2AX. There is free parking but no public transport. The closest train station is Coleshill Parkway or there are buses from Birmingham and Sutton that stop in Coleshill, but from there you need a taxi or a bike.

As we have done before, you can buy hot drinks and cakes on the day, or the English breakfast (this needs to be booked in advance)

The cost for this event is £5.00 (this does not include refreshment).

To book you can email me:   [email protected]

or you can join &/or accept the invitation on Italian meetup:  https://www.meetup.com/birminghamitalian/events/240367844/

The workshop went very well and the participants left very positive feedback. They worked very hard, have been very cooperative, supportive and enthusiastic, it has been a very enjoyable morning working with them.

Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures!!! Here some feedback and more on the link - https://www.meetup.com/birminghamitalian/events/240367844/

Thank you for the invitation to your "Phonics and Phonology Workshop Part 2" at Shustoke Village Hall on Saturday morning, I found The workshop very interesting and helpful, I hope I am able to put what I learnt into good use now and in the future, The listening and written exercises were challenging but interesting to do and aimed just at the right level for me on a Saturday morning. Thanks once again (Robert)

Italian Phonetic & Phonology Workshop

Improve your pronunciation by practising the sound of vowels, syllables and double consonants. We will also practise the intonation and stress, through listening, speaking, writing activities and games.

Come to the workshop on Saturday morning 20th May 2017 from 10:00-12:30 at the village Hall in Shustoke: Church Road, Shustoke, Birmingham, B46 2AX. There is free parking, you can also buy hot drinks and cakes or English breakfast.

The cost for this event is £5.00 (this does not include refreshment).

To book: email me or join &/or accept the invitation on Italian meetup https://www.meetup.com/birminghamitalian/events/239810036/

The workshop has been a successful workshop, everyone worked well together and also very hard. We also met new people and made new connections. I believe the workshop helped improving some of the pronunciation issues although I had planned enough activities to go on or the whole day!! Some were quite happy to have a follow up workshop to extend their practice and complete some o the intonation and stress activities we didn't get the chance to finish. Maybe those who couldn't come on Saturday will be able to join us. I hope to organise one shortly. A presto!

Some of the feedback:

Robert: Thank you for the invitation to your "Phonics and Phonology Workshop" at Shustoke Village Hall on Saturday morning, I found The workshop very interesting and helpful I hope I am able to put what I learnt into good use now and in the future, The listening and written exercises were challenging but fun to do at the same time and all the paperwork provided aimed just at the right level for me on a Saturday morning.

MargaretThank you for the time you put in to make Saturday's Workshop such an enjoyable and social occasion. It was useful to revise some of the basics through the games and fun activities and hopefully they helped to improve .listening and dictation skills, as well as the pronunciation of those tricky double consonant words.

Thanks also to the ladies who kept us going with delicious homemade cakes and coffee throughout the morning.
